Man gunned down in drinking session

BACOLOD CITY – A man was shot dead during a drinking spree in Barangay Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Monday, November 13.

Police identified the fatality as Romel Francisco of Barangay Cadiz Viejo. Wounded was 18-year-old student Kervin Singson, also from Barangay Cadiz Viejo.

Police Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz police chief, said that Francisco and 40-year-old suspect Michael Vidal were having a drinking session when a heated argument erupted, resulting into a fistfight.

Despi said the suspect drew a firearm and shot Francisco. Singson who was in the area was hit by a stray bullet in the right leg, Despi added.

Francisco sustained multiple bullet wounds and was declared dead in a hospital, according to Despi.

Despi said that Vidal, who had a frustrated homicide case, fled and is the subject of a manhunt.
