PRESIDENT Marcos speaks at the 1st Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Local Legislative General Assembly in Davao City on Tuesday.

Among the government officials who graced the 1st Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Local Legislative General Assembly here, Magno said he was pleased to hear from the President that Mindanao would continue to benefit from the national government.

Marcos said that the government must collectively address any Mindanao problem and not downplay them as insignificant. He said that issues concerning Mindanao are integral to the whole nation.

“It is heartwarming to note that despite coming from Luzon, President Marcos still has Mindanao in his heart and mind,” Magno said.

Magno said he is confident Mindanao will achieve its potential under the Marcos administration. He added that the President’s statement that he would not neglect BARMM and the entire Mindanao is reassuring.

The OPAMINE welcomed the President during his arrival at the Davao International Airport (DIA) here on Tuesday morning.

Marcos was scheduled to fly to San Francisco, California to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in the evening but the Chief Executive insisted on attending first the BARMM Local Legislative General Assembly here before leaving.

“I insisted on coming here today to make time to remind all of you that this is an important day. It is important not only to BARMM, but it is important to the entire Republic of the Philippines,” Marcos said, referring to all the participants of the assembly.

Marcos said the assembly is not an effort only happening in BARMM. "It is also a process that the country is promoting and encouraging in the national government to strengthen the institutions for both national and Bangsamoro governments towards a safe, progressive, and resilient future."
