As part of his quest to forge a strong colaition for the 2025 midterm elections, President Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) has formally formed an alliance with the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) called “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

The signing, which took place in Makati City on Saturday evening, May 18, was led by President Marcos and NPC Chairman former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

It followed the alliance signed by the PFP and the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) party last week.

In his speech, President Marcos said the alliance between the two parties will defy expectations.

“We are a force that is ready to serve, that is raedy to bring a better life to our people. To defy expectations, to carve out a bright future with promise and potential,” he said.

Despite aiming for electoral triumph, the President said that the partnership between the PFP and the NPC is a “partnership of equals” anchored on a set of principles beyond electoral objectives.

“It is not a marriage of convenience as we often find in politics, but it is borne out of a need to unite for the greater good,” he said.

“We are not joining forces for some narrow electoral objective alone… More than that, it is to continue [to] collaborate to work on the urgent needs of our people,” he added.

“Or agenda is the nation’s progress. Nothing more, nothing less,” he continued.

In a statement, Sotto said the partnership is grounded on the two parties’ desire for genuine unity, strength, and continued positive change to usher in a “Bagong Pilipinas.”

“Historically, the NPC has always been supportive of the elected President,” he said.

“With urgency, we continue to push for unity among the leaders of our great nation. With that in mind, our party will heed the call of the PFP,” he added.

According to Sotto, the alliance will foster cooperation and strong support for Marcos, considering the NPC has almost 4,000 members, of which 1,910 are incumbent public officials.

In forging the alliance, the NPC and the PFP said that “public service should be fulfilled with utmost integrity, transparency, accountability, people participation, effectiveness, and efficiency.”

“Public service should come before and beyond personal interests,” Sotto said.

“This partnership proves our commitment to the Filipino people that their interests are our primordial duty,” he added.
