Valenzuela City celebrated its 400th founding anniversary with various programs and activities for the city residents at San Diego de Alcala Church and Casa de Polo on Sunday, Nov. 12.

To start the anniversary day celebration, a concelebrated Mass was held at San Diego de Alcala early Sunday morning.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian and other city officials led the blessing of Casa de Polo and the inauguration of Museo de Polo on Nov. 12.

I am truly delighted because the celebration of our once-in-a-lifetime 400th founding anniversary happened during my first term as mayor of our beloved city. It is indeed heartwarming because I became part of this unique event. Thus, we, at the City Government of Valenzuela, poured all our efforts to make it special and unforgettable),” he said.
The local government initiated months-long programs and activities for the Pamilyang Valenzuelano to establish the celebratory atmosphere while waiting for the day for the City of Valenzuela.
Valenzuela City’s international sister city since 2008, the Bucheon City of South Korea, sent delegates from its local government to visit the city for the commemoration of 15 years of sisterhood and to participate in the anniversary celebration.

The Bucheon City of South Korea explored Valenzuela City's historical and iconic places during their visit, including Casa de Polo, Tagalag Fishing Village, Valenzuela City Library, and Museo ni Dr. Pio Valenzuela, among others.
The study tour was scheduled for three days, from Nov. 11 to Nov. 13.
In addition, the local government stated that the city library has officially inaugurated the special section, called the "Bucheon Special Lounge," showcasing the resource collection provided by Bucheon City in a dedicated turnover ceremony.
Furthermore, Bucheon City Mayor Cho Yong-eek and other delegates from the sister city also participated in the signing of the Agreement on Promotion of Friendship Exchange, reinforcing the relationship and camaraderie between the two cities.
There will also be other activities in line with the city's 400th founding anniversary such as an Industry Night, Cultural Night, Valenzuela’s coffee table book launch, Food Fiesta, and a Christmas Bazaar.
The Public Information Office (PIO) stated that the activities will be open for the city’s residents.
