Mayor Along urges Caloocan SK officials to prioritize mental health, anti-bullying programs for youth
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan on Monday, Nov. 13, urged the elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to focus on projects that promote mental health, the campaign against bullying, and other initiatives for development of the youth in the city.
He made his call for youth empowerment through the prioritization of projects related to mental health and anti-bullying during the oath taking ceremony of the new SK officials at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Monday.
A total of 1,398 elected SK officials took their oath in front of the mayor during the event.
I ask you to dedicate time and create a a program to fight any kind of bullying, provide education on the proper use of social media, cultivate the skills of young people, intensify environmental conservation, and above all, promote mental health awareness),” Malapitan said.

He also encouraged the young officials to become not just as role models of their fellow youth, but as representatives of the bright future of the city and the Philippines
“As young as you can be, you are starting to do something great. Not only for yourselves, but for your fellow youth and the City of Caloocan. You were chosen as the leader of the youth, show that you can stand up and keep up when serving our people),” he said.
May pagkakataon kayong impluwensyahan ang kanilang kinabukasan kasabay ng pagpaparamdam sa kanila ng serbisyong may aksyon at malasakit (Remember, the future of your fellow youth depends on your hands. You have the opportunity to influence their future while making them feel the service that has action and care),” he added.
The local government said that the SK officials first underwent mandatory training for leadership development and capacity building to be better equipped when doing their responsibilities as public servants.
The training happened on Nov. 8 and 9, where the elected young officials were taught about different topics like SK history, local governance, code of conduct, ethical standard, planning, budgeting, and resolutions in the city.
Malapitan also expressed his excitement to work with the SK officials and support to the projects they will implement for the city residents.
