ZAMBOANGA CITY – A grandmother allegedly hacked her 12-year-old grandson to death on Friday, November 10, in Barangay Bohe-Sapa, Lamitan City, Basilan.
Police Lt. Col. Arlan Delumpines, Lamitan City chief of police, identified the suspect as Marilou T. Tumangquiz, 53.
Investigation showed that the suspect took the victim, Angelito S. Olis, a Grade 3 student, at 9:20 p.m. to a nearby coconut plantation, tied his hands with a rope, and hacked the boy with a bolo on different parts of the body.
She was arrested after authorities found the boy’s body. She was turned over to the Lamitan police who are now conducting follow-up investigation.
The suspect was believed to be suffering from mental illness.
