DSWD distributes P12.8 M cash aid for individuals in crisis situation in Bukidnon
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided cash assistance, as well as livelihood and food aid, to some 6,000 individuals in crisis situation during the “Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair” in Bukidnon on Nov. 11 and 12.
DSWD released P12.859 million in cash assistance to help 6,531 beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) who requested hospitalization, medical, burial, and medicine support, among others.
It also provided P1.305 million in livelihood assistance to three Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations with 87 members, as well as 8,705 family food packs worth P6.268 million to families in need.
“The department continues to participate in the caravan in support to this objective of the Marcos administration,” said DSWD spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez.
The two-day caravan was organized by the Office of the President and the House of Representatives, in partnership with other national government agencies such as the DSWD, Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Education, and Department of Information And Communications Technology.
The Department of Migrant Workers, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Public Works and Highways, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Commission on Higher Education, Government Service Insurance System, Philippine Statistics Authority, and Land Transportation Office also participated in the event.
The activity marked the 7th Serbisyo Fair held nationwide and the second Serbisyo caravan held in Mindanao.
