BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested 1,730 violators of local ordinances in the Caraga region from November 5 to 11.
The Police Regional Office-13 Regional Operations Division (ROD) said the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) collared 446 violators, followed by the Agusan del Sur PPO with 437, Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) with 363, Surigao del Sur PPO with 228, Surigao del Norte PPO with 199, and Dinagat Islands PPO with 57.
It said 1,579 were apprehended for traffic ordinances, 87 minors for violating curfew hours, 22 for drinking and smoking in public places, and three for roaming the streets without shirts.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft disclosed that 1,413 violators were fined, 351 were charged, and the rest were warned.
“I reminded the police on the ground to continuously implement local ordinances to promote peace and order in every city/municipality,” Kraft said.
He asked the people of Caraga to strictly adhere to local ordinances and national laws to avoid arrest. “I encourage the citizenry to always obey local ordinances to avoid penalties or sanctions,” Kraft added.
