Former national security adviser (NSA) Professor Clarita Carlos has clapped back at the sectors that have arbitrarily branded her as "pro-China".

In a Facebook post over the weekend, the former President Marcos appointee acknowledged the existence of such label against her and appeared annoyed by it.

"Am at sea why some label me 'Pro China' when I am just a scholar seeking explanations for events, using different theoretical prisms...Ano ba! (annoyed expression)," Carlos wrote.

The 76-year-old saved the zinger for her detractors in a subsequent post wherein she revealed what she thought of them.

"Repeat: when people label, they have run out of compelling arguments...gawang tamad! (lazy tactics!)" she said.

One commenter from the original post named Ron Pierre defended the ex-NSA from those who have tagged her as pro-China.

"Simple-minded people tend to keep complex issues in black and white because they lack the skill to define different perspectives in a neutral ground. As simple as being an anti-war advocate, they couldn’t understand that it didn’t exactly mean you’re pro-China but only a peace loving citizen," Pierre wrote.

Carlos thanked him for his comment.

Carlos, a retired professor of political science at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, is currently chief policy adviser to House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
