DILG: 19 Caraga LGUs bag national anti-drug abuse council performance plum

A total of 19 local government units (LGUs) in the Caraga region are among the awardees in the 2023 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awards night slated on Nov. 22 in Quezon City, according to the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

With the theme Bayang May Pinag-isa ng Diwa Laban sa Iligal na Droga” (One Nation with the Spirit of Unity Against Illegal Drugs), the 19 winning LGUs include the municipality of Jabonga, Agusan del Norte; municipality of Loreto, Agusan del Sur; municipality of Rosario, Agusan del Sur; municipality of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur; municipality of Trento, Agusan del Sur; municipality of Veruela, Agusan del Sur; municipality of Bacuag, Surigao del Norte; municipality of Claver, Surigao del Norte; municipality of Mainit, Surigao del Norte; municipality of Malimono, Surigao del Norte; municipality of San Francisco, Surigao del Norte; municipality of Sison, Surigao del Norte ; municipality of Tubod, Surigao del Norte; municipality of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur; municipality of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur; municipality of Madrid, Surigao del Sur; City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur; municipality of Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands and the mMunicipality of Loreto, Dinagat Islands.

“This year’s theme sends a clear message of the consolidated effort of the LGUs, Private Sector partners, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and National Government Agencies (NGAs), the nation shall win the fight against illegal drugs. It is also aligned with the message of “unity” by none other than President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.,’’ the DILG said.

The ADAC Performance Awards recognizes the best-performing local ADACs that comply with the prescribed functionality indicators and implement anti-illegal drug interventions and initiatives to reduce drug abuse in their areas of jurisdiction.

In the Caraga region, sixty-two (62) LGUs earned a High ADAC Functionality score and sixteen (16) LGUs with Moderate ADAC Functionality. No Caraga LGUs earned a Low ADAC Functionality score.

The ADAC Performance Audit is part of the umbrella program of Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) of DILG in the implementation of Executive Order No. 66: “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS)”.

In a statement, the DILG explained that the ADAC Performance Audit results serve as one of the indicators under the Safety, Peace, and Order Governance Area (SPOG) of the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). 

“This is to ensure the continuous improvement in the performance of ADACs in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of anti-illegal drug activities in the country,’’ it added.
