To increase financial support to its riders, ride-hailing service Angkas has launched the “Angkas Weekend Market” initiative to help them generate supplemental incomes.
The Angkas Weekend Market, done in partnership with community selling platform SariSuki, provides opportunities for riders and their families to sell a wide range of products to augment their finances.
They are given access to freely use stalls for selling at the Angkas Cainta Office on select weekends from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31.
Through the initiative, the platform is able to provide communities with access to affordable high-quality goods, and help Angkas riders reach a local customer base.
Angkas CEO George Royeca said that “with the holiday season fast approaching, we encourage the community to support our riders and their families by exploring their unique offerings at this weekend market.”
“By making a purchase, you're not only acquiring unique items and tasting delicious food but also contributing to the local economy, supporting these small-scale entrepreneurs," he added.

Aside from the Weekend Market initiative, the transport service is also showing its support for its riders through a “Drive to Win” ceremony that recognized and gave awards to its dedicated riders.
Angkas currently has 50,000 biker-partners, ferrying hundreds of commuters daily.
Riders who achieved or even exceeded the company’s daily ride challenges were given P200,000 worth of prizes, which are distributed every two weeks through a raffle draw.
These prizes include household appliances, gadgets, grocery packages, gift certificates and gas vouchers.
Angkas said programs like these are conducted in order to encourage its riders.
“We've always positioned Angkas as a company that riders can trust and a place where they feel supported. Our unwavering commitment is to ensure they feel fulfilled, valued, and integral to the success of the company,” said Royeca.
