2 cruise ships visit Boracay


ILOILO CITY – Two international cruise ships visited world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province in the first week of November.

The MS Westerdam of Holland America Line arrived on November 7 while the MV Norwegian Jewel of the Norwegian Cruise Line arrived on November 3.

The MS Westerdam had with 2,700 guests and the MV Norwegian Jewel had 1,600.

A joint team from the provincial government of Aklan, local government of Malay, and the Department of Tourism (DOT) welcomed the visitors.

Cruise ship tourists visit Boracay for a day and stay only for an average of eight hours.

Asian and European tourists onboard saw the stretch of white sand beach, visited souvenir shops, and dined at restaurants before the cruise ship sailed out at night.

The Malay-Boracay Tourism Office said four cruise ships had visited Boracay this year.

Cruise ships resumed visiting the country’s most famous beach destination on February 13, 2023 after the pandemic.
