Water valve construction, testing to affect Pasig, QC


Multiple barangays within Pasig and Quezon City are subject to another water interruption, according to east zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. starting Saturday, Nov. 11.

According to the water distribution utility, certain sites in Pasig will get new water valves in their system, such as the blow-off, a device that regulates pressure in an engine to avoid damage and repair air valves, which release the air and wastewater gases for sanitation.

Other installations to be conducted in QC include having a new pressure relief valve (PRV), and water pressure testing. 

Zero pressure testing checks if a specific area in a water system is waterproof, while step testing localizes water loss within a zoned distribution system by measuring the flow of water while the valves are closed off.

These are necessary service improvement measures to improve the quality of water in residential and commercial areas, nonetheless, Manila Water scheduled their activities during late evenings to early mornings to minimize utilization trouble.

Below is the list of affected areas and their schedule:

Nov. 11 to 12, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM

Pasig – Brgys. Malinao, San Nicolas, Santo Tomas and Palatiw

Nov. 13 to 14, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM

Quezon City – Brgys. Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, St. Ignatius

Nov. 14 to 15, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM

Quezon City – Brgys. Ramon Magsaysay, Tandang Sora, Pasong Tamo, San Roque, Loyola Heights

Nov. 15 to 16, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM

Quezon City – Brgy. Bahay Toro, Loyola Heights

Nov. 16 to 17, from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM

Quezon City – Brgys. Silangan, Quirino 3-A, Duyan Duyan

Residents are urged to start storing their water supply to mitigate the inconvenience. Manila Water also advised to conduct flushing by letting the water flow out the taps once the service improvement activities are finished. (Gabriell Christel Galang)
