GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police arrested on Saturday, November 11, a laborer who allegedly torched several vehicles parked on the streets in the downtown area here before dawn on Friday, November 10.
Police Col. Nicomedes Olaivar, city police director, said the suspect, Keydence Clark Gulmatico, 30, was arrested in a hot-pursuit operation in his boarding house in Barangay Bula, this city.
Police said arson charges will be filed against the suspect who torched at least eight vehicles, including SUVs and a pick-up truck, in Barangay Dadiangas South, Barangay Dadiangas East, and Barangay Bula at about 3 a.m.
Police are tracking down the two companions of Gulmatico identified only as Mark and Jefferson who allegedly paid the suspect P2,000 to torch the vehicles using a pressurized lighter.
Gulmatico claimed that he was forced to receive the payment for the medication of his ailing wife.
The suspect also claimed that Jefferson and Mark reportedly had personal grudges with car owners that prompted them to order him to burn the vehicles for a fee.
