Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Cecilia Carmen Araneta-Marcos joined the Philippine Air Force (PAF) as a reservist, taking her career as a public servant to greater heights.
Cecilia, or Cecile to family and close friends, took her oath before PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Stephen Parreño at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City last Nov. 9. She was given the rank of Major.
Parreño highlighted the vice governor's "commitment to go above and beyond her untiring service to the people and readiness to defend the country's sovereignty as a public official" during the ceremony.
The PAF chief also thanked the vice governor for choosing to join the organization as he looks forward to working with her in advancing and accelerating the air force with excellence.
Cecilia is the wife of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s late cousin Mariano Marcos II.
In a statement on his Fecebook page on Saturday, Nov. 11, Cecilia said: "I am deeply thankful for the opportunities to serve and uphold the mission and goals of the Philippine Air Force. Dios unay ti agngina! (God bless you!)"
The Air Force Reserve Command aims to organize, train, equip, develop and administer the PAF Reserve Force as the base for expansion in the event of war, invasion, rebellion disaster or calamities and to assist in the socio-economic development efforts of the government.
