Making one of her dreams come true, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte read “Isang Kaibigan (One Friend),” a book she authored, to students of the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Central Elementary School in Davao City as part of the launch for National Reading Month.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Nov. 11, the official said she was elated with the invitation for her to become the “mystery reader” for the students.
When I was asked what book I will choose, I had an inspiration to write my own story),” she wrote.
Ngayon lang (I have long wanted to write a book, since I was studying law, but I cannot think of what to write. It’s just now),” she shared.
Duterte said that after reading her book to the kindergarten students, she autographed and donated the first-ever copy to the school so more students could read it.
This, she added, would be an “early Christmas gift” for the Filipino kids.
I will make more copies to be donated to libraries and schools),” the Vice President said.
The official, who also shared photos of the book-reading activity where she was seen engaging animatedly with the students and even giving one a fist bump, underscored the importance of reading.
May we encourage our youth to read books, jump into its pages, and stimulate their love for learning),” she added.
