The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) recognized four local chambers as the Philippines’ most outstanding chambers for their exceptional efforts in promoting business growth and community development in the country.
This year’s Most Outstanding Chamber Award (MOCA), headed by PCCI Adviser and Philippine Chamber Development Institute (PhilCDI) Chairman Alberto P. Fenix Jr., was awarded at the concluding session of the 49th Philippine Business Conference (PBC&E) held last Oct. 26 at the Manila Hotel.
PCCI-Iloilo, headed by Fulbert Woo, and Tandag CCI, headed by John Vincent Pimentel, were hailed for the first time as the Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines for the provincial level and city level 2 categories, respectively.
Meanwhile, the PCCI-Quezon City, headed by Arch. Geoffrey Carandang, and Dinagat Province CCI, headed by Leonel Rojo, received their second Most Outstanding Chamber Philippines award for the city level 1 and provincial level 2 categories, respectively.
The award was presented by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin together with PCCI President George T. Barcelon, 49th PBC&E Chairman Arch. Felino A. Palafox, PCCI Vice President for Regional Affairs Consul Enunina V. Mangio, and PBC&E MOCA Chairman Alberto P. Fenix. Jr.
Also recognized as the Most Outstanding Chamber in the area are: the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce and Industry for North Luzon City Level 1 category; Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry for South Luzon City Level 1 category; and Ormoc City Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Visayas City level 1 category.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Iligan; Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also recognized for Mindanao City level 1; South Luzon, Province level 1; and Mindanao, Province level 1 categories, respectively.
The panel of judges was chaired by DTI Regional Operations Group Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona.
American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) Human Capital Committee Chairman Ernie Cecilia; European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) Executive Director Florian Gottein; and The Manila Times President Blanca Mercado served as the judges.
