Founder of YG Entertainment found guilty by Seoul court of coercing informant
Yang Hyun-suk, who established the Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment, was found guilty by a Seoul court of coercing an informant to withdraw her testimony against a singer.
On Nov. 8, the Seoul High Court sentenced Yang Hyun-suk to six months in prison suspended for one year for coercing aspiring singer Han So-hee to withdraw her testimony about illegal drugs against one of the artists of YG Entertainment.

The High Court’s ruling overturned a lower court’s decision, which acquitted Yang Hyun-suk.
He was indicted in 2019 for threatening Han So-hee, who testified against then iKON member B.I, the Korea JoongAng Daily reported.
She filed a complaint against Yang Hyun-suk with the police for the threat that could “ruin her,” the report added.
"Yang abused his authority as the chief of YG Entertainment ordering the informant to turn over her testimony, which she did," the High Court said.
It added, "Due to this, the concluded B.I. investigation was resumed, leading the artist to be punished. Yang's charges weigh heavily as he not only hindered the freedom of statement for the investigation but also violated the criminal justice system for a considerable amount of time."
YG Entertainment manages K-pop artists including Treasure and WINNER.
