A fire that hit the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) main office on Taft Avenue in Ermita, Manila on Friday night, Nov. 10, was allegedly due to the demolition debris of its old building.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that the blaze was caused by rubbish and debris inside the old three-story office building, which is currently being demolished.
It said that the fire started on the second floor.
It added that the damaged structure was being demolished because a new NBI building would be constructed in the area.
BFP said that the fire was raised to first alarm at 6:48 p.m. and escalated to second alarm at 6:59 p.m.
The fire was placed under control at 7:36 p.m. and extinguished at 7:47 p.m.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
However, the BFP did not disclose the cost of the damaged property.
It said that investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
