
Two active policemen and a dismissed cop were arrested by the Philippine National Police's (PNP) anti-scalawag unit wihtin 24 hours for their alleged involvement in various crimes, a ranking official said Friday, Nov. 10.
The PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) identified the suspects as Patrolman Michael Angelo Basa, Police Master Sergeant Joey Cauilan, and dismissed Police Officer 2 (Corporal) Marbin Jay Pagulayan.
IMEG Director Police Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon said that Basa was first arrested by the IMEG Luzon Field Unit while he was on duty at the headquarters of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on Nov. 7.
The operatives served a warrant of arrest against Basa for a crime of grave threat under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code. He was detained at the Cabanatuan City Police Station in Nueva Ecija for documentation prior to the return of the warrant to the issuing court.

Meanwhile, Cauilan was nabbed on the strength of a warrant of arrest for alleged violation of Republic Act 9262 or Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 on Nov. 7.
"The warrant of arrest emanated from the complaint of his wife whose identity was withheld. Accordingly, the wife filed the complaint sometime in 2022 for non-support," de Leon said.
Cauilan is a member of the Gattaran Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Cagayan. He was detained at the Gattaran MPS.

Lastly, Pagulayan, a dismissed member of the Quezon Municipal Police Station in Isabela province, was arrested for alleged estafa on Nov. 6.
Pagulayan allegedly defrauded a private citizen by falsely pretending to process the titling of the latter’s land in exchange of P16,000 but it did not materialize. The victim filed the case against Pagulayan which resulted to the issuance of the warrant of arrest.
Pagulayan was detained at the Quezon MPS.
