Solons from the far South continue to shower House Speaker Martin Romualdez with praise in connection with the results of OCTA Research’s 2023 third quarter survey .
Lanao del Sur 1st district Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong and Sarangani lone district Rep. Steve Chiongbian Solon were the latest among Mindanao solons to attest to Romualdez's commendable leadership of the chamber.
"The survey has unveiled a substantial and noteworthy 6-point surge in the performance rating of none other than our distinguished Speaker, Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez," Adiong said, calling it "encouraging÷ news".
"This remarkable development is a testament to the discerning judgment of the Filipino populace who have not only acknowledged but celebrated the unwavering dedication and tireless commitment displayed by Speaker Romualdez in steering the House of Representatives," he said.
"It serves as a resounding vote of confidence and an unequivocal seal of approval, both for the dynamic leadership of Speaker Romualdez and for the institution that is the House of the People," noted Adiong.
For his part, Solon said it was no surprise that the House leader garnered high trust and performance satisfaction ratings in the survey.
"Throughout the year, he has championed cornerstone bills in economic reforms, education, and public health. He has consistently demonstrated his ability and dedication for driving positive change through effective legislation," the Sarangani lawmaker said of Romualdez.
"I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Speaker Martin during my tenure and he is an intelligent, professional and decisive law maker – qualities that make him an adept leader at the helm," he said.
'"With OCTA’s affirmation and recognition of Speaker Martin’s hard work, we at the House of Representatives are even more driven to serve the Filipino people with the same level of dedication and passion that he has shown," Solon further said.
Romualdez's performance satisfaction rating increased by six percentqge points, from 55 percent in July, to 61 percent in OCTA’s latest survey.

Among the the country’s top four officials--namely President Marcos, Vice President Sara Duterte, Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri, and Romualdez--only the House leader recorded a big surge in ratings.
He was followed by Zubiri who recorded a 1 percentage point increase in performance and satisfaction rating from 57 percent in July.
Meanwhile, the Vice President's rating dropped significantly, from 82 percent in July to just 70 percent in the recent survey.
According to OCTA Research Scientists, the 12-percentage point drop in the Vice President's rating may be related to the controversial confidential funds issue.
As for Romualdez, his firm stance on the pursuit of hoarders of basic goods in the country, as well as the House's realignment of confidential funds could be some of the reasons for the increase in the performance satisfaction rating of House Speaker.
