Rains to persist due to 3 weather systems

Three weather systems may continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers to parts of Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Weather specialist Obet Badrina said the low pressure area (LPA), shear line, and northeast monsoon will be the dominant weather systems in the country.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Metro Manila, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Marinduque, and Camarines Norte due to the combined effects of the LPA and shear line—an area where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterly winds converge.

Badrina said the LPA, which was last spotted over the coastal waters of Caramoan, Catanduanes, may dissipate within the day.

Cloudy and rainy weather may also prevail over Nueva Ecija, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

Badrina warned that occasional moderate to heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains may affect Ilocos Region and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides in high-risk areas, PAGASA warned.
