Mayor Joy urges BSKE winners to lead villages with honesty
Quezon City Mayor Jay Belmonte expressed hope that the winners in the recently concluded Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE 2023) in the city will serve their constituents properly and with honesty.
“Sa mga nanalong opisyal ng barangay at SK, kayo ang pinili ng inyong mga nasasakupan. Hiling ko na ang tiwalang ipinagkaloob sa inyo ay suklian ninyo ng tapat at maayos na pamamalakad sa inyong mga barangay. Bilang pangunahing unit ng gobyerno, sa inyo magsisimula ang pagbabagong ating inaasam para sa buong bayan (To the winning barangay and SK officials, you were chosen by your constituents. I hope that the trust given to you will be reciprocated by honest and proper governance in your barangays. As the primary unit of the government, the change we hope for the whole town will begin with you),” Belmonte said in a statement.
“Binabati ko ang lahat ng QCitizens na ginampanan ang kanilang tungkulin sa pagboto. Ang inyong mga boto ay bunga ng inyong malayang pagpili ng mga mamumuno sa inyong mga lugar (I congratulate all QCitizens for fulfilling their duty to vote. Your votes are the result of your free choice of leaders in your areas),” she added.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Brig. General Redrico Maranan announced that the BSKE on Monday, Oct. 30, in the 169 polling precincts in the city’s 142 barangays was “generally peaceful.”
QCPD said that aside from the six persons arrested for violation of the liquor ban and 54 others nabbed for violation of the election gun ban during the campaign period, it recorded no election-related violent incidents on Monday.
Around 3,900 police personnel were deployed and 68 checkpoints were established in different areas in the city during the BSKE.
The mayor also thanked the teachers, local government employees, the city police, and volunteers who worked together to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the BSKE.
“Hindi magiging matagumpay ang BSKE kung wala ang tulong ninyo (the BSKE would not be successful without your help),” she said.
