LPA, shear line to bring rains over Metro Manila, other parts of Luzon
The combined effects of the low pressure area (LPA) and shear line may cause moderate to heavy rains to persist in several areas of Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 1.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, Bulacan, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque.
PAGASA said the LPA, which was last seen over the coastal waters of Dinapigue, Isabela, is still “less likely” to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Cloudy and rainy may also persist in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”
PAGASA warned that occasional moderate to heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides in areas affected by the three weather systems.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides in high-risk areas, PAGASA warned.
