House Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar has challenged the newly-elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to show their worth.
The Barangay and SK Elections or BSKE were held nationwide last Monday, Oct. 30, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The counting of the votes took place shortly after.
“Congratulations to all of our newly-elected barangay and [SK] officials! You all did well!" Villar said in a statement.
The lady official said now that the election dust has settled, it's time for the BSKE "to buckle down to serious work and deliver on their campaign pledges".
The Nacionalista Party (NP) stalwart said the tasks of the village and youth officials were broad and diverse. On top of this, they have limited time to make a significant impact in their communities and on the lives of their constituents.
"Oras na para ipakita ng ating mga bagong barangay officials at kabataang lider ang kanilang kakayanang magsilbi sa taumbayan. Dasal ko ang kanilang tagumpay, sabay ang aking panawagan na manatili silang tapat sa kanilang mga tungkulin at huwag sanang kainin ng sistemang corrupt at makasarili," said Villar.
(It's time for our new village officials and youth leaders to show their capability to lead. I pray for their success and at the same time call on them to stay true to themselves and not get eaten by the corrupt and selfish system.)
"I wish all of our new barangay and youth leaders the best of luck. I hope that you all remain as enthusiastic and determined about the challenges ahead of you as you were when you sought your people’s support," she added.
