Chery Tiggo drew strength from Eya Laure as it dispatched Nxled, 22-25, 31-29, 25-23, 28-26, on Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The hard-hitting Laure exploded with 23 points built on 20 kills and three blocks as the Crossovers bucked an opening set loss before turning back the resilient Chameleons.
It was Chery Tiggo’s fifth victory in six outings to tie with PLDT near the top leaderboard while pushing Nxled to its fifth consecutive defeat against a lone win.
Mylene Paat and Ces Robles also torched the net for the Crossovers by finishing with 16 points apiece, even as Ponggay Gaston also contributed with 12 points.
Chery Tiggo got a big lift from veteran setter Jasmine Nabor and blasted Nxled with its powerful smashes, unloading 74 attacks in its attempt to destroy Nxled’s rock-solid defense anchored on Krich Macaslang and Camille Victoria.
Macaslang and Victoria joined forces with 11 of the team’s 14 blocks, but it was still not enough to douse the offensive fire of the Crossovers particularly in pivotal moments.
Lycha Ebon finished with 18 points, while Jho Maraguinot and Victoria scored 15 points apiece in a losing effort for the Chameleons.
