The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, Oct. 9 said the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Mindanao due to the trough of the LPA, which was last monitored 1,305 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods and landslides in high-risk areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
Weather specialist Veronica Torres said the LPA still has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.
However, the weather disturbance may approach the country and bring rains to more areas in the coming days.(Lizst Torres Abello)
