The Manila local government announced on Sunday, Oct. 8, that the Manila Clock Tower (MCT) museum was named the grand winner of the Museums and Galleries Month (MGM) 2023 Audio/Visual Presentation (AVP) Museum Competition by the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA) last Friday, Oct. 6.

The first clock tower museum in the Philippines bested various local government museums all over the country.

Following the MCT was the Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center for first runner-up, while Museo ng Makati took second runner-up.

The MCT was built and completed in 1930. It was designed by a Filipino neoclassical artist and architect, Antonio Toledo.

Its public opening was delayed due to the pandemic and was formally launched by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan as a major tourist attraction and historic landmark and was opened to the public in October 2022.

The tower has five levels featuring the history of Manila and modern art galleries with various art exhibits.

The architecture stands at a height of nearly 100 feet, making it the largest clock tower in the country.

The Manila Clock Tower is located at Manila City Hall, Padre Burgos Avenue in Ermita, Manila. It is open from Monday to Friday, 1 a.m. to 5 p.m.
