Drug courier yields P1.5M illegal drugs in Makati buy-bust

Police seized over P1.5 million worth of illegal drugs from a 33-year-old chef and alleged drug courier in a buy-bust operation in Makati City.

The police identified the male suspect as alias "R", who was arrested on Friday, Oct. 6, in a delivery express company in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo at around 8:20 a.m.

He was arrested after a Substation 7 desk officer received a complaint from an employee of the delivery express, saying that the suspect had been using their service as a courier to transport illegal drugs, including marijuana kush, marijuana oil, and other drug paraphernalia.

The authorities immediately went to the delivery express company, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

During the operation, police said confiscated the suspected drugs worth P1,540,000 from the suspect.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Section 5 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"The Southern Police District (SPD) remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community, actively working to eliminate illegal drug activities in Southern Metro," SPD Chief Brig. Gen. Roderick Mariano said.
