San Beda emerged victorious in the battle of age-old rivals as it downed defending champion Letran, 68-63, in the NCAA Season 99 men's basketball tournament on Friday, Oct. 6, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Jacob Cortez and Yukien Andrada scored 14 points each as the Red Lions earned their second straight win for a 3-1 record at the expense of their longtime nemesis.
Cortez made an inside pass to Alex Visser, who drilled the layup that made it 64-63 with 22.2 seconds left, which was enough to overshadow the heroics of Kurt Reyson and keep the Knights winless in four games.
Reyson knocked down a floater with 24.7 seconds remaining to put his team on top, but Kobe Monje committed a huge blunder after an errant pass to Paolo Javillonar dashed the hope for the Intramuros-based squad.
Reyson finished with 22 points in a losing cause.
