'Salisi Gang' member shot dead in Vigan City

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – A suspected member of the “Salisi Gang” died after he was shot by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Ayusan Sur here on Friday, October 6.

Police identified the victim as Larry Montibon Igot, 58, farmer and resident of Barangay 139, Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City.

Igot had just left the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) after posting bail for a theft case and was accompanied by common-law daughter, Lavinlialuz Villarino Diayon, 43, of Barangay Malapong, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The victim and Diayon were waiting for a tricycle to the Vigan City Police Station when the suspects onboard a motorcycle approached and shot him several times.

The victim sustained three bullet wounds and died on the spot.

Police recovered caliber .45 shells from the crime scene.

Pursuit operations against the suspects are ongoing.

Igot was arrested for allegedly stealing pieces of jewelry and cash owned by Lucia Chan Barba, 60, owner of Lucy’s Antique Shop on Calle Crisologo here last September 24.
