Right of way acquisition for EDSA Greenways Project over 50% complete, DOTr says
The right of way acquisition for the areas where the EDSA Greenways Project will be constructed is now more than 50 percent complete, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has disclosed.
DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista said they are now fast-tracking the processing of documents for all those acquired.
The EDSA Greenways Project aims to improve the pedestrian environment by building elevated pedestrian walkways along the busiest thoroughfare in Metro Manila, specifically in Balintawak and Cubao in Quezon City, Guadalupe in Makati City and Taft Avenue in Pasay City.
Once completed, the EDSA Greenways Project will connect pedestrians and commuters to mass transit stations to help promote the use of public transport.
A total of 3,064 sq. meters out of 5,657 sq. meters of property have been acquired for the project, which represents or 54.16 percent of the total projected acquisition.
“As part of the transport agency’s social mechanism for transport projects, the DOTr has also approved resettlement action plans for all stations covering the EDSA Greenways Project,” said Bautista.
He said at least 148 individuals who will be affected by the project have also been enrolled under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Livelihood Assistance Program.
