In celebration of the 2023 World Space Week (WSW), the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting local space innovations through proactive and agile engagements.

"We join the rest of the world in celebrating World Space Week 2023 and highlighting the indispensable role of entrepreneurship in driving the growth and vibrancy of the global space economy," PhilSA Director General Joel Joseph S. Marciano, Jr. said in a post on Oct. 5.
With the theme "Space and Entrepreneurship," Marciano announced the participation of the country's space agency in WSW 2023, which is celebrated annually from Oct. 4 to 10.
"With Filipino enterprises and entrepreneurs as ultimate value-adders and creators, and as integral to our #Yamang Kalawakan (celestial wealth)," he said.
PhilSA's activities under WSW 2023
The agency also enjoined the public to join activities in celebration of this year's WSW.
As part of the worldwide celebration, the "Space Career Pathways" webinar will be hosted by the Space Generation Advisory Council on Oct. 9.
In this event, PhilSA noted that attendees will "know more about the PhilSA AD ASTRA Scholarship Program during the information session, and watch out for the 'Kwentong PhilSA Scholar' of Dave Emmanuel Zuñiga and Angelo Velasco (both PhilSA AD ASTRA scholars)."

Meanwhile, PhilSA has invited space entrepreneurs, enthusiasts, researchers, academe, and government sector representatives to join "Space Entrepreneurship: Perspectives Beyond Borders" which will take place on Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The event will be facilitated by PhiSA via Microsoft (MS) Teams " for an insightful panel discussion that will bring together a diverse group of space entrepreneurs from different sectors within the space industry as they share their practical experiences, opportunities, and evolving industry trends."

Additionally, another webinar, “Geospatial Science and Technology for Blue Economy and Coastal Marine Environments (GST4BluECoast),” on Oct. 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This event will be organized by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), Technical Commission V Working Group 5 (WG V/5), PhiSA, University of the Philippines - Diliman, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and the ESA - European Space Agency, in celebration of WSW 2023 and the United Nations (UN) Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).
