'Habagat' to continue to affect parts of Northern, Central Luzon

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Oct. 7 said the southwest monsoon or "habagat" still affects western portions of Northern and Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said it still monitors the Low Presure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) which was 1,065 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

Weather specialist Veronica Torres said the LPA still has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours but may enter PAR in the next few hours or Sunday, Oct. 8.

Torres added that PAGASA monitors a "tropical depression" outside PAR at 3,045 kilometers east of eastern Visayas which has a low chance of entering PAR.

In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will still be experienced due to localized thunderstorms.

Based on the state-run weather bureau forecast, rain showers may be felt in Metro Manila from Tuesday to Wednesday, Oct. 10 to 11 due to the effect of the LPA that may enter PAR. (Lizst Torres Abello)
