DOLE releases P1-M aid in far-flung Agusan del Sur town


BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released over P1-million worth of assistance to a farmers’ association and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries in Loreto town, Agusan del Sur province.

DOLE-13 (Caraga) Director Joffrey M. Suyao said a livelihood grant worth P885,440 was given to the New Guitas Farmers Association and P199,500 was released to 57 beneficiaries of the TUPAD program of the agency.

A proposal-making workshop was held that benefited 29 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, Suyao added.

“The Department of Labor and Employment is always ready to serve the people. May this livelihood grant inspire you to take a leap to elevate your economic status,” said DOLE-Agusan del Sur Field Office (ADSFO) officer-in-charge Buhawe Corvera-Correa.

Jean D. Miel, Public Employment Services Office manager, reminded beneficiaries not to depend on government assistance alone and take these as an avenue to alleviate their present circumstances. 

Manuel L. Lozada, president of the New Guitas Farmers Association, thanked the DOLE for the new opportunity granted to their association. “Rest assured that our association will take care of the materials and sustain the livelihood granted to us,” he said. 

The New Guitas Farmers Association received four mudboat tillesr, five water pumps, and one mechanical corn planter.

Fifty-seven TUPAD beneficiaries received P3,500 each for their 10-day work while the 29 4Ps graduates crafted individual livelihood proposals that enabled them to avail of the DOLE-Intergrated Livelihood Program, Suyao added.
