Candidate for kagawad shot dead in Samar

TACLOBAN CITY – A candidate for kagawad or councilor in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections was gunned down in Gandara, Samar, on Friday, October 6.

Police identified the victim as Roldan Pesidas, 43, candidate in Barangay Canhawan Gote, Catbalogan City, Samar.

Initial investigation said the victim was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Casab-ahan from Calbayog City to Catbalogan  City when gunmen onboard a motorcycle appeared at fired at him.

Pesidas died on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds.

Suspects fled toward Catbalogan City.

The Gandara police have coordinated with the Calbayog City Forensic Unit for crime scene processing.

A thorough investigation to identify the suspects and the motive of the killing is ongoing.
