Tricycle driver's brake malfunctions, hits man in Sta. Cruz, Manila
A tricycle driver who allegedly lost control of his vehicle's brake, hit a 31-year-old man along Rizal Avenue in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Friday morning, Oct. 6.

The Manila Police District-Manila Police District-Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-MDTEU) identified the victim as Ryan Vargas, a delivery boy, and a resident of Caloocan City.
According to initial investigation, Angelito Salamat, the tricycle driver, was traveling along the northbound lane of Aurora Boulevard around 7:25 a.m.
The driver claimed that when he reached the corner of Rizal Avenue, his tricycle suddenly lost its brake, causing him to hit the victim.
The victim was reportedly buying drinks from a vendor when he was hit.
Due to the strong impact, the victim fell to the ground and sustained injuries on his shoulder.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) immediately responded to the area and gave first aid to the victim.
He was rushed to the Philippine Orthopedic Center for treatment
The suspect is currently at the MDTEU for investigation and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury.
