Marcos hails Jiu-jitsu aces Ochoa, Ramirez for bagging 2 golds in Asian Games

President Marcos hailed two Filipina Jiu-jitsu athletes for winning two more gold medals for the Philippines in the Asian Games.

Marcos, through separate posts on his X, formerly Twitter, page, congratulated Meggie Ochoa and Annie Ramirez for their respective victories in the 19th Asian Games.

"Congratulations, Meggie! Your comeback in Women's -48kg Jiu-jitsu at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China not only earned us our 2nd gold medal but also proved that martial arts mastery runs deep in our veins," Marcos said Thursday night, Oct. 5.

"Congratulations to Ms. Annie Ramirez for securing the Philippines' 3rd gold with an impressive victory in the -57kg women's Jiu-jitsu at the 19th Asian Games," Marcos also said Friday.

He added that the athletes' "dedication and triumph exemplify the Filipino spirit of excellence."

Ochoa defeated Balqees Abdulla of the United Arab Emirates to win the gold medal.

Ramirez, for her part, scored the country's third gold medal by winning against Kazakhstan’s Galina Duvanova in the final.

The President also hailed Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena for winning the country's first gold medal in the Asian tournament on Oct. 1.
