The local government of Manila suspended classes on Friday, Oct. 6, in all levels, both public and private, while the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) said it would monitor any flooding that may be caused by the inclement weather.
The city announced the suspension around 4:17 a.m.
Under this advisory, moderate to heavy rains are expected for the next three hours, and floods are expected in low-lying areas.
The MDRRMO said no flooding has been reported in the city as of 7:17 a.m.
It had earlier announced the gutter-deep floods in Tayuman Abad Santos, Yuseco Street corner of Abad Santos, Earnshaw, Tomas Earnshaw, United Nation Avenue Taft, and Northbay Boulevard.
The Manila DRRMO recommended the suspension of face-to-face and online classes when the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) placed the city under a yellow rainfall warning around 2 a.m.
As of 7:41 a.m., the Manila DRRMO released an advisory on the high chance of thunderstorms in the city in 10 hours.
