This annual honor, presented by the AY Foundation, Inc. and the Manila Jaycees, pays homage to selfless individuals who have devoted at least 25 years to aiding the less fortunate, much like the late Nobel Peace Prize laureate, St. Teresa of Calcutta. Silva has weathered her fair share of hardships, but her life narrative transcends despair. Over six decades of tireless advocacy, she has been a source of hope for disadvantaged Filipino youth and families striving to survive their daily struggles. Her journey has given rise to transformative programs designed to enhance the lives of those in need.
Silva's remarkable efforts have left an indelible mark on thousands of lives. She provided essential services to approximately 11,500 street children, with 1,800 finding refuge in recovery centers and 320 reuniting with their families.
Her steadfast commitment empowered 210 indigent children to pursue college degrees, offering them a pathway to a brighter future. Under her compassionate guidance, 580 sexually abused street girls received education, medical care, and psychosocial support through Tahanan Sta. Luisa, while 500 street children benefited annually from educational programs.
Silva's benevolence extended to 3,000 street kids who received vital medical care and 1,500 urban low-income families who accessed essential services.
