US gov't donates educational kits to Cagayan students, teachers

The US government has donated half-a-million worth of educational kits to schools affected by recent typhoons in Santa Ana, Cagayan to support their students' continuity of learning.

Through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Civil Affairs Team, the US donated 7,000 educational kits, which include  kindergarten- to grade 3-level books and teaching materials.

According to the US Embassy in Manila, the kits will benefit 3,000 learners and about 100 teachers in 19 schools that were devastated by typhoons Egay and Falcon earlier this year in the municipality.

"Our partnership with the local government of Santa Ana has accomplished much in the areas of humanitarian aid, disaster preparedness, medical response, and now, education," US Civil Affairs Team Leader CPT Dereck Wisniewski said.

"We must continue to adapt and be diligent in ensuring that the U.S.-Philippine partnership remains steadfast and unwavering in the face of global uncertainty," he added.
