Typhoon Jenny (international name: Koinu) slightly weakened as it made landfall over Pingtung County, Taiwan on Thursday morning, Oct. 5, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 11 a.m. bulletin Thursday, PAGASA said Jenny has maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 190 kph, while moving westward “slowly.”
The center of the eye of typhoon Jenny was located 180 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes at 10 a.m.
PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 remained hoisted over Itbayat, Batanes, while Signal No. 2 remained in effect over the rest of Batanes.
Babuyan Islands, northern portion of mainland Cagayan, northern portion of Apayao and northern portion of Ilocos Norte were still under Signal No. 1.
Meanwhile, heavy to intense rains (100 to 200 millimeters) may persist in Batanes on Thursday, said PAGASA.
Typhoon Jenny may exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) between Thursday afternoon and evening, it added. (Lizst Torres Abello)
