Pasig teachers to get cash incentive for 'Teachers' Day'
More than 6,700 teaching and non-teaching personnel of public educational institutions in Pasig City will be given P1,000 each as cash incentives in honor of “Teachers' Day,” announced the city government.

The Pasig City Council approved Resolution No. 377-2023 on its second and third reading during a special session at the Pasig Sports Center on Oct. 5.
The beneficiaries include teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools, daycare centers, special educational institutions, and the Pasig City Institute of Science and Technology (PCIST), including the academic and non-academic personnel of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP).
The City Council previously proposed a similar resolution granting cash incentives to teachers on "Teachers' Day" in 2022.
In her committee report, Councilor Corazon Raymundo said there was a positive consensus among the councilors and public school leaders in approval of the resolution.
The inclusion of Alternative Learning System (ALS) personnel, members of the education unit of the Pasig City Hall, as well as regular and non-regular PLP staff in the scope of the resolution was also approved by the committee.
Upon the suggestion of Councilor Volta Delos Santos, Raymundo said the committee members all agreed to institutionalize the resolution, and endorse the possible ordinance to institutionalize the incentive.
If it were institutionalized, the councilor noted that the Budget Office informed them that there are sufficient funds that can be allocated to the disbursement of cash incentives on a yearly basis.
In her sponsorship speech, Raymundo said the cash incentive is a token of gratitude to teachers for their diligence and tireless efforts in teaching the youth.
"Hindi kailangan dumating palagi ang Teachers' Day upang pasalamatan kayo at ipadama sa inyo ang aming pagmamahal at pagpapahalaga. Araw-araw namin kayo gustong pasalamatan (We don't need to wait for Teachers' Day to come for us to thank you and show you our love and appreciation. We want to thank you everday)," said the councilor.
