NAPC cites productivity of consolidated rice production program
The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) on Thursday, Oct. 05, announced the “satisfactory” result of the Consolidated Rice Production Program in South Cotabato as reflected on the amount of harvest recorded.

“Umabot tayo ng 10 to 14 tons per hectare na na-harvest ng unang 200 hectares na na harvest natin (We reached 10 to 14 tons per hectare in the first 200 hectares that we harvested),” NAPC Vice Chairperson for Government Sector Reynaldo Tamayo said in a televised interview.
Tamayo, who is also the Governor of South Cotabato, gave an update on the Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program in South Cotabato.
With the productivity of rice production, Tamayo expressed hope that the cost of rice be reduced to P20 to P25 per kilo as deemed by President Marcos.
Sustainability of rice production
Tamayo shared the tedious process of rice production.
He noted that to produce rice, it would take at least four months to process and distribute to the dealer. “Iha-harvest ka, ipo-pocess mo, ida-dry mo, ipo-process mo (You will harvest, you will process, you will dry, you will process),” he said.
Tamayo explained the importance of sustaining the process of rice production. He also underscored the need to expand the irrigation of the area so the farmers can harvest three times a year. The aid rice production, he added, that adequate water supply is needed.
“Dapat mag lalagay pa tayo ng mas marami pang irrigation dun sa mga areas na hindi talaga tinatamaan ng bagyo (We should put more irrigation in the areas that are not usually hit by the typhoon),” Tamayo said.
Meanwhile, he expressed hope for the sustainability of the Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program with the support of President Marcos.
“Ang kagandahan lang sa ating Pangulo at sa ating gobyero ngayon ay dahan-dahan inaayos yung sustainable na system at sustainable na programa (The good thing about our President and our government is that our current administration is slowly working on the sustainable system and sustainable programs),” he said.
