The Caloocan City government conducted its first cultural fashion show on Tuesday, Oct. 3, aiming to showcase the richness of art, creativity, and history of the city and its constituents.
Caloocan’s local designers and fashion enthusiasts attended the event held at the Diamond Hotel in Manila. It was organized by City’s Cultural Affairs and Tourism Council (CATC).
“Ang Runway Caloocan ay hindi lamang nagpapakita ng mga kasuotan, ito rin ay nagpapakita ng sining ng ating Caloocan designers at kung paano nila binibigyang-buhay ang kanilang mga konsepto. I am greatly honored to have witnessed the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and artistic vision of each designer and their team,” CATC Chairman and Caloocan First Lady Aubrey Malapitan said.

The event also served as a competition for the participating local designers that featured their traditional and modern versions of the Barong, Filipiniana, and Terno as well as Baro Cerrada pieces.
The local government said that local designers Mr. Steve Marquez and Ms. Kim Velasco won the Best Male and Female Model, respectively, while Mr. Prince Ikee Morales was hailed as Runway Caloocan’s Best Designer and Grand Champion.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan congratulated the participants of the first ever fashion show of the city.
