70 hired on-the-spot in Manila overseas mega job fair
The local government of Manila announced on Thursday, Oct. 5, that 70 jobseekers were hired on-the-spot during the overseas mega job fair held at SM City Manila in Ermita, Manila last Sept. 29.

The Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said that 55 applicants were hired on-the-spot by local employers and 15 applicants by international employers.
The overseas mega job fair was launched in celebration of tourism month, where around 22,000 job positions were offered by 26 overseas employers and 19 local employers to 788 registered applicants from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Applicants who were hired on-the-spot showed their gratitude to their employers for the job opportunity.
"Maraming salamat sa pagbukas ng pintuan para sa aming mga aplikante. Kami po ay lubos na nagagalak sa mga oportunidad na binigay ninyo (Thank you very much for opening the door for applicants like me. We are very happy with the opportunities you have given us)," one jobseeker said.
"Malaking tulong ang naitulong sa aming mga naghahanap ng trabaho, lalong-lalo na sa akin na nagsisimula pa lang magka-work (It was a great help to us job seekers, especially to me, who is just starting to work)," another hired on-the-spot applicant said.
Some of the positions offered during the job fair by overseas agencies were for electrical maintenance, barista, baker, assistant cook, computer engineer, assistant painter, music teacher, pianist, carpenter, hairdresser, welder, workshop manager, architectural draftsperson, and site engineer.
Local employers offered positions such as chef, sales associate, valet driver, delivery helper, company driver, beauty adviser, product specialist, and production worker.
The job fair was organized by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Manila in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-National Capital Region (NCR) and Manila Field Office, the Department of Tourism, Culture, and Arts of Manila, the Department of Migrant Workers, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and Radyo Trabaho as its radio partner.
