6 ex-cops tagged in Jemboy Baltazar murder yield in Quezon


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Six former lawmen tagged in the killing of 17-year-old Jemboy Baltazar in Navotas City on August 2 surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Quezon Provincial Field Unit in Camp Nakar, Lucena City, Quezon on Wednesday, October 4.

The Police Regional Office 4-A identified the suspects as Police Executive Master Sgt. Roberto Balais Jr., Staff Sgt. Gerry Maliban, Staff Sgt. Antonio Bugayong Jr., Staff Sgt. Nikko Pines Esquilon, Corporal Edmard Jose Blanco, and Patrolman Benedict Mangada.

The warrant of arrest for murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code for these former Navotas operatives was issued on Tuesday, October 3, by Judge Pedro Dabu, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 286 in Navotas.

Suspects were dismissed from the service weeks after the incident.

The court recommended no bail for the suspects.
