VP Sara graces National Teachers' Day culminating program in Butuan City


BUTUAN CITY –  Vice President Sara Z. Duterte is set to emphasize  the Department of Education’s (DepEd) commitment to supporting teachers in the Matatag Agenda and enumerate  some plans of the agency to improve their welfare during the culminating program of  National Teachers’ Day (NTD) at the 𝗙r. 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗨𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗙𝗦𝗨𝗨)-𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 here on Thursday, October 5.

The Matatag Agenda is a roadmap to protect teachers’ rights and the promotion of their welfare.

With the theme “Together4Teachers,” National Teachers Month (NTM) 2023 aims to acknowledge and emphasize teachers’ crucial role, loyal service, and dedicated commitment to developing globally-minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation.

The event will bring together more than 3,000 teachers from the six DepEd regional offices in Mindanao – Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9), Northern Mindanao (Region 10), Davao region (Region 11), Soccsksargen (Region 12), Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and Caraga region.

Joining top DepEd officials from the Central Office in Pasig City are DepEd-Caraga Director Maria Ines C. Asuncion, Assistant Regional Director Pedro T. Escobarte Jr., schools division superintendents, assistant schools division superintendents, other education leaders of Caraga, and FSUU officials and staff. 

Dignitaries from the provincial, city, and municipal governments in Caraga region will also grace the occasion. 

The program will feature a series of events, including keynote addresses, messages of support, cultural presentations, a stand-up comedy show, and the much-awaited Teacher Got Talent Competition and a press conference. 

Expected to welcome the Vice President are top local government officials in the region led by Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente C. Lagnada and Agusan del Norte Gov. Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante.
