Father dies breaking up fight between 2 sons

ILOILO CITY – A father died after he was accidentally stabbed while trying to break up a fight between two sons in Barangay Ilawod, Cuartero, Capiz, on Monday night, October 2.

Police identified the victim as 53-year-old Ruben Sibug.

The Sibugs were attending a gathering of relatives when brothers Joven and Jory started having a verbal argument.

None of the two brothers would back down until Jory tried to leave the family gathering to deescalate tension.

However, his 30-year-old brother Joven tried to go after him and pulled out a knife and stabbed Jory in the leg.

Ruben tried to pacify Joven but instead of calming down, Joven fought back and ended up stabbing his father in the chest.

The victim was taken to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City where he died.

Joven escaped but was later arrested by the police.
