'Undas' a time to reignite passion in serving the living - AFP
The observance of the All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day on Nov. 1 and 2 is not only a time to remember dearly departed loved ones but also to reignite one's passion in serving the living.
General Romeo Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), said this on Tuesday, Oct. 31, as millions of Filipinos are set to visit cemeteries in time for 'Undas'.
"May we take this opportunity to rekindle our commitment to continue to serve the living, cherish the gifts of life and freedom, and strengthen our faith, drawing inspiration from the lives well-lived of those who passed," Brawner said in a statement.
The holiday season is also an "invitation" for the public to "honor all the saints, both known and unknown, and celebrate the lives of our departed loved ones," the military chief stated.
"We also take the time to honor the legacy, memory, and patriotic deeds of our fallen comrades who selflessly dedicated their lives in service to the country and made the ultimate sacrifice," Brawner noted.
Meanwhile, the AFP Public Affairs Office (PAO) released guidelines on the operation hours of the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) in Taguig City for Undas.
On Nov. 1 to 2, the LNMB will be open to the public from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 3 to 4.
